A simple rug I created for a material study. I added a basic floor that has no assigned material, to minimize the light reflecting off the floor while still being showing the rug being presented as it was intended. The cube next to the rug is a basic cube that to showing that it can be applied to other shapes but is intended for something more flat or rectangular.
BREAKDOWN
It was originally made in Maya and in ZBrush I added slight irregularities to the rug. Then created a height map and Normal Map in Adobe Photoshop. Afterwards I brought it all into the Unreal Engine to create the material for the asset.
